FAQs
What does my admission cover? Do I have to stay in one specific area or am I free to roam between the gardens, goats and sensory barn?
It’s up to you! If the light and sound room is your jam, stay the whole two hours there. Love the goats? They’ll love to have you as long as you want to be with them. Want to spend the two hours planting and tending to the garden? Do you just want or dig, play on miniature farm equipment and get dirty? Go for it. Our farm is your playground.
Are food and drink allowed?
We allow food and drinks in the fruit tree grove and outside the sensory barn in designated areas. No food or drink is permitted in or near the goat pen at any time. Water is the only drink allowed inside the sensory barn.
How many visitors are allowed at the farm at a time?
Helping Friendly Farm is built so families and friends can enjoy themselves, regardless of stimulation tolerance. Therefore, we can have up to twelve visitors every two hours. When scheduling your visit, Jessica will ask questions to make sure that our visitors particular needs are being met (sensory seekers/avoiders will need to be scheduled separately).
Do the goats bite?
While our goats are gentle and not aggressive, It could be argued that anything with a mouth and teeth bites. But, since goats only have front teeth on their bottom jaw, even if they bite you by accident it only comes off as a hard pinch because they don’t have top teeth. Goats use their mouths like we use our fingers--—to touch and explore the world around them, not to bite. They may try and chew your shoelaces or loose clothing. A volunteer will always be in the goat pen with you to help redirect a curious goat from chewing :).
What should I wear?
Wear clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Comfortable, form fitting clothing is best for visits with the goats. No shoes are allowed in the sensory barn. If you are visiting after it rains, boots are a good idea.
